HOW TO USE YOUR NEW BACON COOKER:

  • Drape bacon slices over center well.
  • Microwave approximately one minute per slice. Adjust cook time to allow for your microwave settings and bacon thickness.
  • Grease drips into saucer for easy disposal.
  • Dishwasher safe.
  • High fire stoneware with lead free glazes.
  • Place your hot bacon cooker on a trivet or cloth to avoid cracking the clay. Cold counters can cause thermal shock.

I LOVE New Morning Gallery in Asheville, NC! They have cool, handmade gadgets that are great, like beautiful wooden utensils and lots of wonderful ceramics. My favorite gadget is my bacon cooker. Crispy bacon in the microwave with no spatter, about a minute a slice. After the bacon is cooked, I pour off the grease, wipe out the bacon cooker, and pop it into my dishwashwer. I also buy these all the time for gifts too! I have the dark blue one in the photo, and it is so pretty that I have it sitting on my counter, along with a beautiful ceramic canister I also purchased at New Morning Gallery, that makes the utensils that I use really handy.

My review is in the form of a question. There are no dimensions as to the height of these cookers and it doesn’t seem like the size is equal to a slice of bacon. Do you have to cut each slice in half to get it to work?

Thanks so much for your question. Because our artists make each bacon cooker by hand, their sizes vary, but all work great and you do not have to cut the bacon. The bacon drapes over the inside of the cup of the cooker, so that it is cooked evenly on both sides. Depending on the length of the bacon, it may lay inside the cup bottom, but it shrinks as it cooks.
