ABOUT THE ARTIST
Inspired by natural light, Joy Moser finds the early morning and late afternoon atmosphere intriguing subject matter for her paintings. She works outside "en plein air" in order to capture the essence of a particular moment in time. Moser received a BFA from the University of North Carolina. She worked in commercial art for 25 years before recently returning to painting. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, outdoor festivals and open studio tours in the Charlotte and Asheville area.
"As long as I can remember I’ve had the desire to communicate my view of the environment through color, shape, line and texture. I work in oils and move around the canvas quickly with bold brush strokes, applying just what is necessary and no more - leaving viewers with their own interpretation. Working outside provides all the information needed to convey a place in time; temperature, smell, sounds are equally as important as color and shape. The Southern landscape is my inspiration." - Joy Moser

Joy will be signing posters at the Craft Fair on Saturday, 9/9, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Info Booth.
